5 Spots to Take Your Dog for a Walk This Summer

Summer is in full swing, the weather is nice and hot and you are looking for a change of scenery during your daily walks with your favourite furry companion? There is nothing better than exploring new places in the summer. Who knows, maybe some of them will become new favourite destinations for you and your pooch!

Head for the Beach

If Max likes to snooze under the parasol or take long walks on the sand while you get to watch the sunset, the beach is the perfect place to go. But finding a dog-friendly beach isn’t easy around here. However, they do exist!

In the magnificent Eastern Townships region, on the shores of majestic Lake Memphremagog, enjoy the free beach where canine vacationers are accepted … on a leash! If you work during the day but would like a change from your usual walk around the block, head for Hudson and its Sandy Beach, a hidden treasure on the banks of the Ottawa River. After 5 p.m., dogs are not only accepted, but they are allowed to play in the water. That’s a great way to cool down after a long summer day. What could be more fun than ending a weekday evening jumping around in fresh water with your most loyal friend?

Nature in the Heart of the City

If you are more of a city person but love walking in nature without having to drive too far from the Island, we have a few ideas for you. Montreal has magnificent parks where dogs on a leash are accepted and where doggies can stretch their legs. The Parc du Mont-Royal, with its luscious tones of greens everywhere and its acres and acres of mature trees in the heart of the Montreal is probably the best known one of all. For a change, why not venture out to Summit Wood in the heart of Westmount? As you walk along its many trails, you will soon forget the hustling and bustling of the city. During certain periods, dogs can run freely in some parts of the park. Enough to make your four-legged friend crazy with joy!

How about a little shopping?

Do you love shopping, but always leave with a heavy heart because your pup has to stay home? Did you know that Quartier Dix-30 accepts dogs on a leash? We can hear you from here: “Yeah, but that is still not very convenient if I actually want to go into a store! ” We had the same reaction! But that was before we learned that dogs are also admitted in more than 80 stores! Yes, yes, yes! Shopping with your doggie is possible. Several places even have fresh water and free poop bags. Isn’t this a shopper-dog-lover’s dream? For more information, visit quartierdix30.com
